BRICKTROWEL | Hand tool used by the mason to pick up and lay mortars or other materials over bricks (…commonly used for many improper uses J ). It has a blade length of over 16 cm. |
(LITTLE) BRICKTROWEL | Hand tool used by the mason to pick up and lay mortars or other materials over bricks. It has a blade length of less than 16 cm. |
BUMPER | The handle end cap of our bricktrowels, used by installers to set tiles and bricks during their laying. |
CARBON STEEL | Generic technical term to identify a steels in which iron binds with carbon in various proportions . It is the most commonly used steel in building and in machinery construction. |
COATING | The application of a layer of mineral or acrylic finishing material with thickness between 0,3 and 20 mm. |
CO.ME | Acronym of “COstruzioni MEccaniche”, e.g. “mechanical constructions” |
CUTLERY STAINLESS STEEL | A sub family of stainless steel, with hardness properties related to its hardenability and breaking strength, which make it suitable for the manufacturing of knives. In particular, it grants flexibility and surface hardness, enabling it to keep edges sharp, without breaking. |
DEBURRING | The process of rounding and smoothing the edges in order to remove any imperfections and/or residues caused by cutting. |
FERRULE | Metallic protection of the wooden handle of our briocktrowels. |
FINGERGUARD | Polypropylene appendix of our bricktrowels handles (suffix -FG and -EN) to protect the finger from direct contact with the steel-neck. |
FLOAT | Masonry hand tool entirely made of plastic and/or sponge-rubber. |
FOOT | The connecting portion between the shank and the blade of a bricktrowel. Our feet are made of a real weld (Taurus Welded ) unlike others that are simply printed and/or already part of the neck. |
GRANULOMETRY | Definition of the size of particles (grain size) through measurement . |
GRINDING | Automated process of thinning of the bricktrowel blade through abrasion in order to make the flexible blade. |
GYPSUM | Powder obtained by baking gypsum stones. The solidification takes place when mixing the powder with water. |
HANDLE | Element of contact with the operator’s hand, found in all hand tools. It allows the transfer of movements and forces exerted by the hand to the tool, in our case, a blade. |
LIME | Product obtained from baking of limestones. Its production process consists of baking, cooling-down, extinguishing, thickening and seasoning. It is used to produce slaked-lime for Venetian plasters and other mineral coatings. |
MARMORINO | Lime-based high-end decorative finishing imitating a marble surface. |
MICROCEMENT | Mineral decorative product that permits to obtain a seamless surface with concrete effect. |
MONOCAPPA | A plaster formulated to be applied in a single layer of high thickness. In the Monocappa system a single coating layer functions as underground plaster and finishing. (See our item n. 301 Monocappa scraper). |
MORTAR | A product obtained by mixing binders with water or with water and sand. The characteristics of the product thus obtained substantially change according to the type and proportion of the components used. |
NECK | The part connecting a bricktrowel’s handle to the blade. |
PAD PRINTING | Indirect printing process which allows to reproduce, in a simple way and with high fidelity and resolution, drawings, writings and decorations on both flat and concave or convex surfaces, otherwise irregular. |
PLASTER | General term to identify various materials composed by binders and aggregates, used to fill surface irregularities. |
POLYSTYRENE | Plastic styrene polymer. It can be in expanded form as well compact. In the latter form, it is used for its lightness, adaptability to the production with injection molding machines and for its mechanical properties. |
PRE-MIXED MORTAR/PLASTER | Industrially ready-mixed mortars, used after being mixed with water. |
RENDERING | Leveling a surface with a skim coat consisting of very fine aggregates, binders and additives in the purpose of conferring a perfect homogeneity to the surfaces. |
ROUGH RENDER COAT | The first layer of plaster with thickness of about 1 cm, performed throwing with force a compound of fluid mortar obtained by coarse sand, cement and lime with a bricktrowel or plastering machine. |
SMOOTH RENDER | Also called skim coat. Very fine plaster capable of millimeter- leveling irregularities of the surface (eg . Marmorino , tonachino) |
STAINLESS STEEL | Generic technical term to identify a vast family of steels which, for their content of other metals, in addition to iron and carbon, have the property to resist chemical aggression and corrosion. Depending on additional materials, it may have mechanical properties of hardness, flexibility, toughness, etc. , it can be hardened or can be paramagnetic (sensitive to the action of a magnetic field). |
